THE ANUNNAKI

THE ANUNNAKI (2025) – Official Movie Trailer | Starring: Keanu Reeves, Charlize Theron
The film opens in the year 2025 – not a disaster, not an apocalypse, but an eerie silence. Abnormal climate changes, strange astronomical phenomena, and ancient artifacts that suddenly glow have left scientists around the world baffled. But the scariest thing is not the events themselves – it’s the fact that they seem to be intentional. At the center of the story is Dr. Elias Varyn (Keanu Reeves), a brilliant archaeologist and linguist who has spent his life studying the Sumerian cuneiform script. Haunted by the appearance of the word “Anunna” in thousands of ancient texts, he believes that the legends of “sky gods” are not just symbols, but memories of beings who once interfered with human evolution.

Opposing him is Commander Lyra Kael (Charlize Theron) – a global security expert, head of a secret organization created to monitor extraterrestrial activities. Lyra is the embodiment of reason, discipline and practicality; while Elias represents faith, wisdom and the desire to explore. These two seemingly opposite people are forced to cooperate when an ancient signal – a kind of “call back” – suddenly comes from the ground of Mesopotamia. That signal triggers a chain of events that shakes the world. The world in the film does not build the image of aliens in the conventional way. The Anunnaki is not about an alien species invading Earth, but about “teachers” who left tens of thousands of years ago – now returning to check the results of the greatest project ever created: Humans.

Their appearance does not cause war, but causes… a crisis of awareness. The film asks the question: if humanity is really a product of another civilization, then what is true freedom? What is the essence of humanity? What makes the film unique is the way it uses modern science – DNA decoding, archaeological research, artificial intelligence – to catch up with and intersect with ancient myths. Every little detail in Sumerian, Babylonian, Egyptian culture is explained from a completely new perspective: Humans were not created to obey, but to surpass their own limits.Keanu Reeves brings Elias Varyn to life, quiet, pained, but not weak. He is a man who has traded his whole life to search for the truth, and when it is revealed, he is the one who suffers the greatest pain: the pain of knowing too much. Charlize Theron as Lyra Kael creates a powerful counterbalance. Lyra does not believe in gods, does not believe in the mystical; She believes in humanity—in will, in choice, in the ability to stand on its own two feet. But when the Anunnaki return, her firm belief in logic begins to waver.

The combination of the two characters creates a profound message:
Truth is never a destination. Truth is only a doorway to a new journey.
