Funerary Good: Shabti of Seti I

Found in the Royal Tomb of Seti I (KV17) in the Valley of the Kings, this shabti served as a magical servant for the king in the afterlife. Seti I, the 2nd king of the 19th Dynasty and the father of Ramesses II the Great, ruled during the height of the New Kingdom.

This finely crafted figure reflects the royal workshop’s mastery and symbolizes Seti I’s continued authority and support in the next world. As with all royal shabtis, it was intended to perform any labor required of the king in the afterlife, ensuring his eternal comfort and power .
