THE WOMAN KING 2

THE LEGACY LIVES ON! THE WOMAN KING 2 IS THE POWERFUL CONTINUATION THE AGIOJE DESERVE!
The demand for a follow-up to the groundbreaking 2022 historical epic is immense! While THE WOMAN KING 2 is not yet officially greenlit by Sony (as of late 2025, though fan concepts for a 2026 release are viral!), the Agojie are absolutely ready for their return, building on the success and legacy of the first film.
Historically, the sequel is perfectly positioned to tackle the final, heartbreaking chapters of Dahomey’s independence: the looming shadow of European colonialism and the subsequent Franco-Dahomean Wars of the late 19th century (1890-1894). This would dramatically raise the stakes, forcing General Nanisca (Viola Davis) and King Ghezo (John Boyega) to lead their kingdom and the Agojie into a battle they cannot win with sheer determination alone—a fight against rifles, cannons, and a technologically superior foreign army.
The central story would likely focus on the growth of Nawi (Thuso Mbedu), now a seasoned warrior, as she grapples with the immense burden of command against impossible, existential odds. This narrative shift allows the film to explore a deeper, more morally complex path, perhaps even touching on the historical reality of Dahomey’s involvement in the slave trade as a necessary evil to obtain the weapons needed for their defense. This positions the Agojie’s final stand not just as a fight for freedom, but as a moment of historical reckoning and immense sacrifice.
The action choreography, the beating heart of the first film, would be even more intense—a visceral, tragic ballet of spears, swords, and sheer sisu against the relentless forces of invasion. The sequel would be an essential continuation, solidifying the Agojie’s legend and exploring the next chapter of Nanisca’s legacy as she guides her daughter through the kingdom’s darkest hour. It promises to be a deeply moving, emotionally resonant chapter that honors the true warrior spirit. A cinematic event if it hits theaters!
