In The Equalizer 4, Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) is reluctantly pulled out of his quiet retirement in the Italian countryside after a brutal attack on a young local girl reveals the resurgence of an international human trafficking network tied to his old CIA days. Despite trying to live in peace after the events of the third film, McCall finds he can no longer turn away from injustice when evil creeps back into the lives of innocent people.
The film begins with McCall enjoying a peaceful life mentoring troubled teens in a small village. But when one of his students, Sofia, goes missing, clues lead to a shadowy new criminal organization known as “The Consortium”—a syndicate with deep political connections, spanning Europe, Asia, and the U.S. McCall learns that the group is being run by Viktor Dragovich, a former Russian intelligence operative with ties to McCall’s past missions.
As McCall begins to dismantle the network from the inside, he is pursued by a relentless CIA task force led by a new character, Agent Maya Bennett (played by Lashana Lynch), who sees McCall as a dangerous rogue operative. However, after a high-stakes confrontation in Prague, Bennett begins to question her orders and eventually teams up with McCall when she uncovers corruption within her agency.
