The Munich Security Conference publicly criticized former President Trump for “undermining the global order,” prompting a response from the United States.

The Munich Security Report 2026 has publicly criticized U.S. President Donald Trump, describing him as the most powerful figure currently undermining the post-1945 international order, while the United States has rejected the claim and insisted it has no intention of weakening NATO or its alliances.

According to CNN, the Munich Security Report 2026 states that the world is entering an era of “wrecking-ball politics” led by President Donald Trump, placing unprecedented pressure on the international order.

The report was released ahead of this week’s Munich Security Conference and bluntly portrays Trump as the most powerful individual challenging existing rules and institutions, warning that his approach risks dismantling long-standing alliances and norms.

“More than 80 years after its creation, the U.S.-led international order established after 1945 (post-World War II) is now being dismantled,” the report states, even labeling Trump as one of the most prominent “wreckers.”

According to the report, Trump’s second term has marked a turbulent year for transatlantic relations, featuring a series of controversial moves such as imposing punitive tariffs on European allies, threatening to use military force to take control of Greenland from NATO ally Denmark, and adopting a more conciliatory stance toward Russia in the Ukraine conflict.

Previously, at the 2025 Munich Security Conference, U.S. Vice President JD Vance also sparked controversy by openly criticizing European leaders over censorship and migration policies, asserting that the greatest threat to the continent comes from “within.”
