26-Year-Old Singer Dies After Being Bitten by a Venomous Snake

Singer Ifunanya Nwangene has died at the age of 26 after being bitten by a venomous snake, leaving fans and colleagues deeply saddened by the sudden loss.

According to PEOPLE, the tragic news was confirmed on February 2 by the choir with which Nwangene had been performing. The group stated that the young singer passed away on January 31 at a hospital in Nigeria.

BBC Africa reported that the incident occurred while Ifunanya was sleeping at her home, when she was bitten by a snake. She reportedly woke up in the middle of the night in pain and later discovered that two snakes were inside the house. She was initially taken to a nearby clinic, but the facility did not have anti-venom serum, forcing her to be transferred to another hospital.

Despite emergency medical efforts, the singer did not survive.

In a statement, the choir expressed profound grief, describing Ifunanya as “a rising star” whose voice, talent, and spirit would always be remembered. Following the announcement, many fellow musicians and fans took to social media to share tributes and condolences under her previous posts.

Ifunanya Nwangene first gained public attention after appearing on The Voice Nigeria (Season 3). During the Blind Auditions, she impressed two coaches with her performance of “Take a Bow” by Rihanna. Her audition clip garnered more than 80,000 views on YouTube, helping introduce her to a wider audience.

According to friends and family, the singer had been actively planning for her future, including preparations for her first solo concert in 2026, making her passing all the more heartbreaking.
