Miranda Kerr Reveals Why She Divorced Orlando Bloom

Former Victoria’s Secret Angel Miranda Kerr has opened up about her divorce from actor Orlando Bloom, admitting that during their three-year marriage, the two of them “didn’t bring out the best in each other.”

Speaking on the podcast We Need to Talk on February 3, Kerr rarely revisited the difficult period leading up to their split. She said they quickly realized the relationship was no longer helping either of them grow. “When we decided to separate, I told him: ‘Let’s always put our son Flynn’s needs first and not let our own issues or emotions get in the way,’” Miranda shared.

As they rebuilt their relationship as co-parents, Miranda and Orlando said they devoted a great deal of time to healing—learning to forgive each other and themselves. “We really needed to forgive one another and learn how to make peace, because otherwise those wounds would become a heavy burden for each of us,” she explained.

The Australian model emphasized that having a child together meant they were bound by a lifelong connection. “When you have a child with someone, that person will always be your child’s father or mother for the rest of your life,” she said. This understanding motivated Miranda to want a relationship with Orlando that remained “harmonious” and “peaceful.”

That said, the journey was not always easy. Miranda admitted she once struggled to set boundaries with Orlando Bloom until she met her current husband, tech billionaire Evan Spiegel. Miranda and the founder of Snapchat share three children: Hart (7), Myles (6), and Pierre (2).

“My husband is very clear about boundaries,” Miranda said. “In the early days after Orlando and I split, I was still a people-pleaser and wanted to make everyone happy. If Orlando changed plans at the last minute, I would usually adjust without hesitation.”

According to Miranda, Evan Spiegel’s presence helped her become more confident in protecting her personal boundaries. She recalled telling Orlando directly: “I’m sorry your plans changed, but we’ve already arranged everything according to this schedule.”

Today, Miranda Kerr and the Pirates of the Caribbean star maintain a warm relationship. “Orlando and I are very close friends,” she said. “I just wished him a happy birthday, and he thanked me for being a wonderful mother to Flynn and a valuable friend in his life.” She added that they both remain grateful for having raised their son together and continue to focus on being the best parents possible.

After his marriage to Miranda Kerr, Orlando Bloom was in a nine-year relationship with singer Katy Perry before they split last summer. The actor shares a six-year-old daughter, Daisy, with Katy Perry.
