Nicola Peltz’s Acting Career Falls Short of Expectations Amid Beckham Family Turmoil

Actress Nicola Peltz—the daughter-in-law of David Beckham and Victoria Beckham—has pursued an acting career for many years but has yet to leave a lasting mark. Her most recent project has drawn mixed to negative reactions.
In recent weeks, the Beckham family has been under intense public scrutiny after Brooklyn Beckham, the eldest son of David and Victoria, publicly stated that he no longer wishes to reconcile with his family. In a widely discussed open letter, Brooklyn expressed unwavering support for his wife, Nicola Peltz. The stance divided public opinion, with some backing the Beckham parents and others sympathizing with Brooklyn and his wife, who is four years older than him.

Nicola Peltz—who comes from a billionaire family—has frequently been cited as a possible factor in the growing rift between Brooklyn and his parents. According to some sources, tensions began to surface shortly after Brooklyn started dating the actress born in 1995. As the family dispute escalated, Peltz remained silent, sharing everyday moments on social media and appearing radiant alongside her husband in the U.S. on January 22.
Beyond the family controversy, Peltz is also facing pressure over her acting career. Her latest television series, The Beauty, has been harshly criticized, with accusations ranging from plagiarism to excessive use of explicit scenes and violence. Created by Ryan Murphy and Matthew Hodgson, the series premiered in the U.S. on January 21 and in the U.K. the following day.

Spanning 11 episodes, The Beauty features a high-profile cast including Bella Hadid, Ashton Kutcher, Evan Peters, Rebecca Hall, Meghan Trainor, and Nicola Peltz herself. Despite the star power, reviews have been largely unfavorable. Critic Rebecca Cook remarked that enduring all 11 episodes felt like “a test of patience.” The Independent noted similarities to The Substance but argued that The Beauty fails to match its quality, while IndieWire bluntly labeled it “a mess from start to finish.”
Daily Mail commented that Peltz’s lackluster track record in film “comes as no surprise,” noting that despite years in the industry, she has yet to deliver a critically acclaimed role. Peltz made her screen debut at age 11 in Deck the Halls, a poorly received Christmas film. In 2010, she appeared in The Last Airbender, widely regarded as a cinematic disaster. Her role in Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) was part of a box-office hit but was criticized by reviewers as more promotional than substantive.

In 2024, Peltz took on directing for the first time while also starring in Lola. The film was mocked by audiences as forced and unconvincing and quickly flopped at the box office, despite public support from the Beckham family. More recently, she appeared in the thriller Pretty Ugly, playing a social media influencer whose actions fracture a mother-daughter relationship.
Born in 1995, Nicola Peltz is the daughter of billionaire Nelson Peltz and former model Claudia Heffner. She began dating Brooklyn Beckham in 2019, became engaged in 2020, and married him in a lavish ceremony reportedly costing around £3 million in April 2022.
Outside of film, Peltz remains a fixture at major fashion events such as the Met Gala and Paris Fashion Week. While her acting career continues to divide opinion, she is widely praised for her fashion sense and media presence. According to Page Six, friends describe Nicola as highly ambitious, driven by a strong desire to establish her name in Hollywood.
