Kim Kardashian Explains Why She Deleted Photos With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Kim Kardashian has spoken out to explain why she and her mother, Kris Jenner, deleted photos taken with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Instagram in November last year.

In November 2025, fans noticed that photos of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at Kris Jenner’s lavish 70th birthday party in Los Angeles had disappeared from social media, despite the group having been photographed happily together earlier that evening.

Appearing on her sister Khloé Kardashian’s podcast Khloé In Wonder Land on January 28, Kim addressed the situation, calling it “completely harmless” but admitting that, in hindsight, it did look “a bit strange.” She explained that Kris Jenner and Meghan Markle have been close friends for many years and share a strong personal relationship.

Kim said she and her mother reviewed the photos taken at the birthday celebration to decide which ones to post. Initially, the Sussexes had been informed that sharing the images was “totally fine.”

“However, after the photos were posted on Instagram, they realized the date coincided with Remembrance Day and didn’t want to be seen as partying on that day,” Kim explained. “So we took the photos down out of respect.” She added that, afterward, everyone agreed the situation had been blown out of proportion.

According to Kim, Harry and Meghan attending the Baby2Baby Gala earlier may not have caused any controversy, but images of dancing and partying on Remembrance Day in the UK were more likely to be misunderstood.

The star of The Kardashians said that if her family had handled the situation in a lighter, more humorous way, public reaction might have been very different. “I don’t like it when something so minor turns into unnecessary drama,” she said.

Kim even joked that they should have “leaned into the drama” for a promotional campaign for her shapewear brand Skims. “I said, ‘We should’ve done a whole Skims campaign. Take photos—maybe just me photographing my mom—post them, then delete them 30 minutes later and say: Sorry, I didn’t have permission to post those photos for the campaign,’” she recalled.

Previously, on November 8, 2025, Prince Harry (41) and Meghan Markle (44) drew attention when they attended Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday party, hosted at the $175 million Beverly Hills mansion of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. The couple arrived hand in hand and mingled with numerous A-list celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Bill Gates, Paris Hilton, Tyler Perry, Ciara, and Mark Zuckerberg.

After the event, Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner posted several photos featuring the Sussexes, only to quietly delete them shortly afterward, sparking widespread speculation. A Page Six source claimed that some individuals close to the British royal family viewed Harry and Meghan’s attendance as “tasteless,” suggesting Harry was becoming increasingly distant from his family. Another source said the Sussexes themselves had asked Kim and Kris to remove the photos to avoid escalating tensions with the Royal Family as they were attempting reconciliation.

Additionally, another insider suggested that the Kardashian-Jenner family felt frustrated that attention on Kris Jenner’s birthday celebration had been overshadowed by controversy surrounding Harry and Meghan.

The incident was even rumored to be the “final straw” that led Meredith Maines, communications director of Archewell—the organization founded by Harry and Meghan—to resign from her position.
