Israel Addresses Possibility of Deploying Ground Forces to Iran

Israel has launched a new wave of airstrikes against Iran, with the Israeli military saying there are “still many targets left to strike.” However, Israeli officials stressed that deploying ground forces into Iran is not currently under consideration.
On March 1, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that, for the first time since the start of Operation “Roaring Lion,” it had struck targets linked to the Iranian government in central Tehran.

“Over the past day, the Israeli Air Force has carried out large-scale strikes to establish air superiority and pave the way toward Tehran,” the IDF said in a statement.
According to Fars News Agency, one of the targets hit in Sunday’s strikes on Tehran was the headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). A military hospital was also struck, along with several bases belonging to the Basij militia, the agency reported.

There are no signs that the U.S.–Israeli campaign is nearing an end. IDF spokesperson Nadav Shoshani said many targets remain, including sites linked to Iran’s defense-industrial production.
“We have the capability, and we still have targets to continue striking for as long as necessary,” he said.
Asked whether Israel was considering sending ground troops into Iran, Shoshani said that option is not being considered at this time.
