Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, a devoted soldier, wife, and mother of two, was killed in Kuwait on March 1, 2026, in an Iranian strike on a U.S. facility in Port Shuaiba. She was 39 years old. Alongside five other American service members who lost their lives that day, Sgt. Amor made the ultimate sacrifice in service to her country — a sacrifice that leaves behind not only a grieving military community, but a heartbroken family who was counting down the days until she came home.
Originally from White Bear Lake, Minnesota, Nicole Amor dedicated more than two decades of her life to the United States military. She enlisted in the National Guard in 2005 before transferring to the Army Reserve in 2006, answering the call to serve with steadfast commitment.
Over the years, she earned numerous awards and commendations, including the Army Commendation Medal — recognition of her professionalism, leadership, and dedication to duty.
Sgt. Amor served with the 103rd Sustainment Command, a unit responsible for ensuring that American forces have the essential supplies they need to operate effectively — food, fuel, water, ammunition, transportation equipment, and logistical support. It is a mission that often takes place behind the scenes, yet it is absolutely vital to every operation. Nicole understood the importance of that mission, and she carried it out with excellence.
Her husband, Joey Amor, shared his grief in a statement to the Associated Press, saying, “She was almost home. You don’t go to Kuwait thinking something’s going to happen, and for her to be one of the first – it hurts.” His words reflect the devastating shock of a loss that came so suddenly, just as their family was preparing for reunion. Speaking to MPR News, Joey described the kind of person Nicole was: “If you needed anything she would just take care of it for you. She’s helped a lot of people.” That simple but powerful description paints a picture of a woman who gave selflessly — not only in uniform, but in everyday life.
For more than 20 years, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor wore her nation’s uniform with honor. She balanced the demands of military service with the responsibilities of family life, embodying strength, resilience, and compassion. She was more than a soldier — she was a protector, a caregiver, and a source of support for countless people who relied on her steady presence.
As her loved ones face this unimaginable loss, we extend our deepest condolences and prayers. Sgt. Amor’s legacy of service and kindness will not be forgotten. Thank you for your courage, your commitment, and your sacrifice. Rest in peace, Sergeant Nicole Amor.
