❤️🎉 Dick Van Dyke Celebrates 14 Years of Marriage with Arlene Silver: “I’ve Fallen in Love with Her More Every Day”

Legendary entertainer Dick Van Dyke and his wife Arlene Silver are celebrating a remarkable milestone together — 14 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. The beloved Mary Poppins star, who recently turned 100, marked the special occasion with a heartfelt and playful appearance alongside his wife during an Instagram Live session over the weekend.
The couple originally said “I do” on Feb. 29, 2012 — a leap day wedding that makes their anniversary extra unique. To celebrate, Silver, 54, hosted a live chat with fans on social media, later sharing the full recording on her Instagram page on Sunday, March 1. In the caption, she affectionately wrote, “14 year anniversary with my very special guest ❤️❤️❤️.”
At the start of the video, Silver introduced the man beside her with a smile. “I have a very special guest today to celebrate a very special day. My husband is here!” she said as she turned the camera toward Van Dyke, who was relaxing beside her on their bed.
The legendary actor, still full of humor at 100 years old, immediately joked about the camera angle. “I’m not really shorter, I’m just lying down on the bed,” he said with a laugh before pointing toward his wife and proudly adding, “Hi, she’s mine!”
During the live session, Silver read comments from fans and answered questions, many of which centered on the couple’s love story. She encouraged Van Dyke to share the story of how they first met — a moment that clearly still stands out in his memory.
Van Dyke recalled that the meeting happened backstage at the 2006 SAG Awards, where Silver was working as a makeup artist. Sitting alone in the green room while actors and actresses waited for their turn to go on stage, he noticed someone approaching him who immediately caught his attention. “The place is full of actors and actresses,” he explained. “One thing about Hollywood actresses, they’re pretty heads on stick figures. So I know them in a minute.” But then something different happened. “All of a sudden I see this vision approaching me. No stick figure — gorgeous!” he said with a grin. “And I swear this, I never thought of getting up, I never thought of speaking, I found myself standing on my feet saying, ‘Hi, I’m Dick.’ I don’t know what hit me, but I just did it.”
The two quickly struck up a conversation. When Van Dyke learned she worked as a makeup artist, he hired her on the spot. Their professional collaboration soon turned into a close friendship and eventually a romance. Six years later, the couple tied the knot in Malibu, California, beginning a marriage that Van Dyke says has only grown stronger with time. “Neither one of us can think where the time went,” he reflected.
“We’ve had so much fun, been so many places. And I’ve fallen in love with her more every day. I do, I’m telling you.” Van Dyke even credited Silver for helping him stay strong and healthy into his 100th year. “I wouldn’t even be here — I wouldn’t be 100 years old if it weren’t for her, and that’s no kidding,” he said. “She’s pulled me through a lot of things.” Still, the legendary star says he feels great. “I feel pretty good for 100,” he added with a smile before complimenting his wife once more. “And she just keeps getting more and more gorgeous, doesn’t she?”
