At the center of the new nightmare are the “Halfbies,” individuals who were infected but never fully turned. They retain their human consciousness while gaining enhanced strength, speed, and terrifying survival instincts. To some scientists, they represent the next step in human evolution. To governments and military forces, they are unpredictable weapons that must be contained—or eliminated.

Nam-ra, who once struggled to control the hunger growing inside her, becomes the key to understanding this new stage of the virus. Living in isolation with other Halfbies who hide in the ruins outside the city, she walks a dangerous line between humanity and monstrosity. While she protects the remaining survivors from lurking infected hordes, she also knows the world would never accept what she has become.

Meanwhile, the remaining students—Su-hyeok, On-jo, and the others—try to rebuild their lives under constant surveillance. The authorities monitor them closely, fearful that the virus may still linger in their blood. But when rumors begin to spread about strange incidents in Seoul—people turning violently infected without warning—the uneasy calm begins to crack.

The truth soon emerges. A secret military laboratory has been conducting experiments on the virus recovered from Hyosan, hoping to weaponize it as a biological defense system. But the experiment spirals out of control.
