When she first decided to bring home a ball python, plenty of people had opinions.
Some warned her that snakes are unpredictable. Others insisted the reptile would be aggressive or difficult to handle. A few even questioned why anyone would want a snake as a pet in the first place.
But the moment she brought him home, those stereotypes started to fall apart.
Instead of acting defensive or frightened, the little python did something completely different — he started exploring.
Slowly and curiously, he moved around his new enclosure, gently investigating every corner of his environment. It quickly became clear that he wasn’t the intimidating animal people had warned about. In fact, he seemed calm, curious, and surprisingly relaxed.
Wanting him to feel comfortable, she decided to make something special for him.

Ball pythons naturally seek out small, enclosed spaces where they can feel safe, so the handmade cave turned out to be perfect. He loved it. Now, most days you’ll find the python curled comfortably inside his little cave, tucked away where it’s warm and peaceful. Sometimes he slips under blankets or settles into his favorite hiding spot, resting quietly and watching the world around him. Far from being aggressive, he’s turned out to be gentle, curious, and incredibly calm.
Ball pythons are actually known for their docile nature, which is one reason they’re such popular reptile companions. When they feel safe and cared for, they tend to be relaxed and easygoing — nothing like the scary reputation snakes sometimes receive.
For his owner, living with him has been a reminder that animals are often very different from the stereotypes people attach to them.
