This Is the Story of Me and It

(Rescuing a Starving Cat on the Street)

It was an ordinary day, or at least it started that way. I was walking down a busy street when something small caught my attention. At first, I almost didn’t notice it. But then I stopped.

There, by the side of the road, was a cat.

It was painfully thin—so thin that I could see its bones through its fur. Its eyes looked tired, almost empty, as if it had been fighting to survive for far too long. It didn’t run away when I came closer. It didn’t even move much.

That was the moment I knew—I couldn’t just walk away.

I crouched down slowly, unsure of how it would react. The cat looked at me, weak but aware. For a second, everything felt quiet, like the world had paused. Then, very gently, I reached out my hand.

It didn’t hiss. It didn’t scratch.

Instead, it stayed.

I carefully picked it up, feeling how light it was in my arms. It was heartbreaking. No living creature should feel that fragile. I wrapped it in my jacket and brought it home, not really knowing what would happen next—but knowing I had to try.

The first few days were difficult. The cat was too weak to eat much, and it spent most of its time lying still. I worried constantly, wondering if I had found it too late.

But slowly, things began to change.

It started eating a little more each day. Its eyes became brighter. It began to move around, first just a few steps, then a little more. Every small improvement felt like a victory.
