USS Gerald R Ford Aircraft Carrier

Amid growing strategic competition at sea, the United States Navy has commissioned one of the most advanced warships ever built: the USS Gerald R. Ford. As the first vessel of the Ford class, it represents a significant leap forward compared to the earlier Nimitz-class aircraft carrier.
Named after former U.S. President Gerald R. Ford, the ship officially entered service in 2017 after years of development. Measuring over 337 meters in length and displacing around 100,000 tons, the USS Gerald R. Ford is not only one of the largest warships in the world but also a powerful symbol of American military technology.
One of the ship’s most notable features lies in its cutting-edge systems. The Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) replaces traditional steam catapults, enabling smoother aircraft launches while reducing wear and tear. In addition, the Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG) improves both efficiency and safety during aircraft recovery. These innovations allow the carrier to significantly increase the number of sorties it can generate each day, enhancing its combat effectiveness.
