A routine traffic stop escalated into a nighttime police pursuit that ended in a crash and the arrest of a fleeing suspect, authorities reported.

Officers initially attempted to stop a vehicle for a standard violation. Instead of pulling over, the driver accelerated away, prompting a pursuit through local roads under low-visibility conditions.

The chase came to an abrupt end when the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a roadside ditch. He then exited the car and attempted to flee on foot into a nearby wooded area.

Law enforcement quickly established a perimeter and conducted a coordinated search. Despite the darkness and difficult terrain, officers were able to locate and apprehend the suspect a short time later.

The individual is now in custody and is expected to face charges related to fleeing law enforcement, reckless driving, and other possible violations. Authorities have not released additional details as the investigation remains ongoing.
