California Crackdown Results in Over 12,000 Arrests and Thousands of Recovered Vehicles

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California officials announced Thursday, March 26, 2026, the results of a large-scale law enforcement operation that has led to more than 12,600 arrests statewide over the past two years.

The operation, led by the California Highway Patrol, targeted organized crime activities including vehicle theft and drug trafficking.
Authorities reported that more than 6,400 stolen vehicles were recovered during the operation. In addition, officers seized significant quantities of illegal narcotics, including fentanyl, which officials described as a major public safety concern.

Governor Gavin Newsom stated that the initiative is part of an ongoing effort to combat crime and improve safety across California communities.
Officials indicated that similar enforcement efforts are expected to continue.
