My Girl 3: Seasons of Life (2026)

Starring: Anna Chlumsky, Dan Aykroyd, Macaulay Culkin

Plot Summary:
Vada Sultenfuss (Anna Chlumsky) returns to her roots in Madison, Pennsylvania, the small town where she spent her childhood years. Now an accomplished author and mother to an 11-year-old daughter, Vada is called back to the family funeral home to help her father, Harry (Dan Aykroyd), shut it down for good. As the parlor’s doors close for the final time, so too do chapters of her own past, including the painful loss of her childhood best friend, Thomas J. (Macaulay Culkin).

In this emotional, bittersweet story, Vada finds herself once again facing the weight of old grief and sweet nostalgia. The house, with its dusty corners and faded memories, is full of echoes of Thomas J.’s laughter. Vada’s 11-year-old daughter is now at the same age Vada was when she first lost him, and the cycles of life, loss, and love begin to reveal themselves. As she navigates motherhood, Vada reflects on her own coming-of-age journey, grappling with her unresolved feelings from the past.

A Summer of Healing:
The turning point of the story arrives when Vada, struggling to come to terms with her own past while helping her daughter deal with her first crush and the pains of growing up, begins to rediscover the healing power of memory. Thomas J.’s spirit remains a guiding light, one that helps mother and daughter navigate a summer that will change them both forever. Though Vada never forgets her lost friend, she learns to cherish the lessons his memory left her: the importance of holding on to the people we love, even after they are gone, and the courage to move forward while carrying those memories with us.

As Vada reconnects with her father and old friends from her past, she learns the delicate balance between honoring who we were and embracing who we are becoming. Her daughter, so full of life and questions, inspires Vada to reflect on how she will teach the next generation to face love, loss, and the beauty of fleeting moments. It is a journey of rediscovery—a journey that teaches Vada that life’s bittersweet nature can coexist with its overwhelming beauty.
