Tragic Death of 3-Year-Old in Mexicali After Being Left in Vehicle
A three-year-old boy named Vicente has died in Mexicali, Mexico, after being left inside a vehicle for an extended period of time, according to authorities.
Investigators report that the child’s mother returned home late Friday night and, under circumstances still being examined, did not realize her son remained in the car. Vicente was discovered the following afternoon.
During that time, outside temperatures rose above 93°F (34°C). Experts note that interior vehicle temperatures can become dangerously high within a short period, especially in direct sunlight.
Emergency responders confirmed the child had died from heatstroke. Medical findings also indicated injuries consistent with prolonged exposure to extreme heat.
Authorities are currently investigating the full circumstances surrounding the incident, including potential contributing factors, and are expected to determine whether charges will be filed.
The case has prompted renewed warnings from safety officials about the extreme danger of leaving children unattended in vehicles, even for short periods.
