A mother from Cheshire has given birth to one of the rarest sets of triplets ever recorded — three identical baby boys sharing a single placenta in a pregnancy estimated to occur just once in every 200 million pregnancies.

Gina Dewdney, 34, and her husband Craig were left speechless during a routine 13-week ultrasound appointment when doctors made the astonishing discovery.
At first, sonographers believed the couple were expecting twins. But moments later, another tiny head appeared on the scan.
“My husband suddenly said, ‘Is that a third head?’” Gina recalled.
Specialists at Liverpool Women’s Hospital later confirmed the babies were not only triplets, but genetically identical boys all sharing the same placenta — making the pregnancy exceptionally rare and medically high-risk.

The babies, later named Jimmy, Jensen and Jaxson, required intensive monitoring throughout the pregnancy because sharing one placenta can lead to dangerous complications as the babies compete for nutrients and blood supply inside the womb.
Initially, doctors suspected Gina might be carrying two girls and one boy. However, later scans revealed the extraordinary truth — all three babies were identical boys.

As the pregnancy progressed, doctors planned a cesarean delivery due to the risks involved. But before the scheduled date arrived, Gina’s waters broke unexpectedly at 31 weeks, forcing doctors to perform an emergency C-section.
Around 30 medical professionals reportedly filled the operating room, with each baby assigned a dedicated neonatal team.
Incredibly, all three boys were delivered within just 1 minute and 52 seconds.

Adding even more rarity to the birth, baby Jaxson entered the world still inside his intact amniotic sac — known as an “en caul” birth — an event believed to occur in only around 1 in 80,000 deliveries.
Following their premature arrival, the triplets spent six weeks in neonatal intensive care before finally going home with their parents.
Now five months old, the brothers are thriving and already developing very different personalities despite sharing identical DNA.
“It’s amazing to watch,” Gina said. “They’re being raised exactly the same, but they’re already completely different little people.”
The family’s daily life now revolves around round-the-clock feeding, sleepless nights, and mountains of nappies, but Gina says the chaos is worth every moment.
