Katowice, Poland — In October 2023, a tiny, broken kitten was found dragging himself near a freight railway yard, his back legs crushed and mangled. No one expected him to survive.

Rushed to a veterinary clinic, the kitten — later named Rusty — underwent emergency surgery. Both of his hind legs had to be amputated to save his life. For weeks, he faced a long and uncertain recovery.

Local rescue volunteer Marta Lewandowska opened her heart and adopted Rusty during his healing process. She gave him the love and care he desperately needed. Months later, a dedicated veterinary prosthetics team designed and fitted him with custom rear-leg prosthetics.
