“I may drive a London bus for a living… but being his dad is the proudest job I’ll ever have.”

My name is William, and I’m a single dad raising my boy Jason right here in London.

Life hasn’t been kind to us. We lost our beautiful wife and mum to cancer years ago, and since that day it’s just been the two of us against the world. I wake up long before sunrise, put on my uniform, and spend my days driving the red buses through the busy streets of this city — just to keep the lights on, the rent paid, and a hot meal on the table for my son.

Some evenings I’m so tired I can barely stand, but then I come home and see Jason’s face light up when I walk through the door… and suddenly none of it matters.

Today is his birthday.

Watching him blow out his candles, hearing his laughter, and seeing that bright, hopeful smile on his face reminds me why I keep going. He is my greatest blessing, my reason for everything. In a world that can feel so heavy, he is my light.

I may never be rich. I may never have a fancy job or a big house. But I get to be Jason’s dad — and that is the greatest honour and the proudest title I will ever carry.

Happy Birthday, my beautiful boy. Thank you for choosing me to be your father. I love you more than words can ever say.

To every single parent out there grinding through the long days and sleepless nights — keep going. Your children see your love, even when you think they don’t.

Please wish Jason a happy birthday today. He deserves all the joy in the world
