At just 6 years old, Dunia Sibomana survived a nightmare no child should ever face…
A chimpanzee attack in Virunga National Park changed his life forever. He was the only survivor—but the injuries to his face were severe and life-altering
But his story didn’t end in tragedy… it began again in a new country, with new hope
A nonprofit brought him to the United States, where he underwent multiple reconstructive surgeries
And then something unexpected happened…
He discovered wrestling
What started as recovery turned into greatness. Dunia trained, fought, and rose through the ranks with unstoppable determination
He became a New York state wrestling champion in the 102-pound division as an eighth grader.
And in 2024, his journey reached another milestone—he signed with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to continue his wrestling career

From survival… to strength… to success.
Dunia’s story proves that what breaks you once does not define you forever
