Mother and Daughter Found Dead in Park Slope Brownstone in Apparent Murder-Suicide — Second Such Incident in the Building Since 2024

A 23-year-old woman fatally stabbed her 59-year-old mother before turning the knife on herself in a brownstone in the upscale Brooklyn neighborhood of Park Slope on Saturday evening, according to law enforcement sources.

Police were called to 386 Second Street shortly before 8 p.m. following a 911 call about an unresponsive woman. Officers discovered the 59-year-old mother with multiple stab wounds inside the home. A search of the residence then revealed her 23-year-old daughter, also suffering from stab wounds.

Both women were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services. Sources indicated the younger woman had gotten into a heated argument with her mother, whom she lived with, before carrying out the murder-suicide.

The victims have not yet been officially identified by authorities.

This incident marks the second murder-suicide at the same Park Slope address in just over two years. In January 2024, 34-year-old Jason Jackson, a cook, and his partner, 34-year-old Olga Kirshenbaum — a well-known financial consultant nicknamed “The Money Whisperer” — were found shot to death in what police determined was also a murder-suicide. Jackson is believed to have killed Kirshenbaum before taking his own life.

Local residents expressed shock at the latest tragedy. Longtime Park Slope resident and illustrator Fred Fassberger noted that after the 2024 incident, the community held emergency meetings at a nearby church to discuss safety concerns.

The New York Police Department has not released further details about the motive behind Saturday’s killings.
