Over 30 Injured After MTA Bus Crashes Into Multiple Vehicles and Building in Pikesville, Maryland

Pikesville, Maryland — Dozens of people were injured Wednesday evening when a Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) bus collided with multiple vehicles before crashing into a building along Reisterstown Road. Baltimore County fire officials declared it a mass casualty inciden
The crash occurred around 5:48 p.m. on July 8, 2026, in the 1500 block of Reisterstown Road. The bus struck as many as 12 vehicles, including one that flipped over, before plowing into a FedEx Office building. One person was trapped in the bus and another in a vehicle. A critically injured patient was airlifted by medevac.
As many as 33 people were injured, with patients transported to area hospitals. No fatalities have been reported. Emergency crews, including multiple ambulances, helicopters, and the Shock Trauma Go-Team, responded swiftly. Downed power lines and structural concerns at the building complicated the scene.
Reisterstown Road remains closed in both directions between Old Court Road and Sudbrook Lane as of Thursday for investigation and cleanup. The cause of the crash has not been released.
Maryland Governor Wes Moore and Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier expressed gratitude to first responders and prayers for those affected.
