A YEAR HAS PASSED. ONE FAMILY’S HARDEST JOURNEY IS STILL UNFINISHED.

A YEAR HAS PASSED. ONE FAMILY’S HARDEST JOURNEY IS STILL UNFINISHED.
For the family of 8-year-old Cile Steward, the first anniversary of the Camp Mystic flood is not just a day to remember—it’s another day spent hoping to bring their daughter home.
Cile was among the 27 campers and counselors who died when floodwaters surged through the camp on July 4, 2025. Nearly a year later, her remains have still not been recovered.
In a message ahead of the anniversary, her parents thanked the volunteers, first responders, and officials who have continued searching, saying their kindness and commitment have helped sustain the family through months of unimaginable loss.
For some families, healing begins with answers. For Cile’s family, that day has yet to come.
