Grieving Mother of Texas Teen Daniel Erving Claims Police Hung Up on Her Plea for Help, Calls Friends ‘Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing’ as Ben Crump Joins Case

Rowlett, Texas — The mother of 18-year-old Daniel Erving, an honor roll student who drowned in Lake Ray Hubbard, has spoken out emotionally, alleging that police hung up on her during a desperate call for help. Tameca Erving described two teens who were with her son as “wolves in sheep’s clothing” during a press conference.

Erving went missing after jumping into the lake with friends in April 2026. His body was recovered days later. Lucas Roper, 19, and a juvenile were later charged with tampering with evidence. The family has now retained civil rights attorney Ben Crump to demand a full investigation, possibly as a murder case.
The mother expressed frustration with the initial response and ongoing handling of the case, calling for justice for her son. Crump and the family are pushing for transparency and accountability.
