Ohio Mother Sentenced to Life in Prison for the Starvation, Abuse, and Murder of 4-Year-Old Daughter Nahla Miller

A heartbreaking case of child abuse and murder has concluded in Ohio with the sentencing of Tianna Robinson for the death of her 4-year-old daughter, Nahla Miller. The young girl, who weighed just 23 pounds at the time of her death, endured severe starvation, physical trauma, and neglect before passing away in April 2021.

Prosecutors detailed the horrific conditions Nahla suffered, including being locked in a freezing basement without adequate food or water, reportedly as punishment for not being fully potty trained. Medical examiners found evidence of broken bones, internal bleeding, injuries to her lungs and liver, prolonged starvation, and strangulation. Nahla fought for her life on life support for nine days before she died.

Robinson, 28, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder in February 2024. As part of the plea deal, she was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years. Other charges were dismissed.

Nahla’s father, Nathaniel Miller, and her grandmother had reportedly noticed warning signs and attempted to gain custody or intervene to protect the child. Despite their efforts, they were unable to prevent the tragedy.

Robinson’s then-boyfriend faced related charges and reportedly received a 12-month sentence. He was accused of lying to investigators about the circumstances surrounding Nahla’s condition.

The case shocked the community and highlighted failures in protecting vulnerable children from abuse. Nahla, described as a bright and loving child who should have been enjoying a normal childhood, instead suffered unimaginable pain.

Her story continues to serve as a call for stronger child welfare oversight and community vigilance.
