Remembering Parker — A Story That Touched Thousands

By now, many people have heard about Parker, the 11-year-old boy from Calgary whose disappearance brought a community together for nearly two weeks.

Parker was a child with profound autism, was non-verbal, had an intellectual disability, and was known to wander from safe areas. For 13 days, his family, first responders, volunteers, and strangers across the community held onto hope that he would be found and brought home safely.

Sadly, that hope ended in heartbreaking loss.

For families raising children with similar challenges, Parker’s story carries a pain and fear that is difficult to explain. The constant planning, safety measures, and awareness required every day are a reality many people never see.

Parents can do everything possible to protect their children, yet still live with the fear that one unexpected moment could change everything.
