Highlander Star Christopher Lambert Collapses While Signing Autographs at Fan Convention
French actor Christopher Lambert, best known for his role as Connor MacLeod in the Highlander films, was rushed to hospital after collapsing during an autograph session at Steel City Con in the Pittsburgh area on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
The 69-year-old was meeting fans and signing autographs at the Monroeville Convention Center when he “suddenly collapsed,” according to a witness who spoke to TMZ. Emergency responders treated him on site before transporting him by ambulance to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Convention organizers initially announced on Facebook that Lambert had left the event due to a “personal issue” and cancelled his scheduled photo opportunity, with his return time listed as to be determined.
A representative for the actor later told TMZ that Lambert is “perfectly OK” and resting in his hotel room. The spokesperson attributed the incident to a drop in blood sugar after the actor had slept little the night before and eaten very little during the day. Organizers separately noted factors including overheating and dehydration.
Steel City Con, one of Pennsylvania’s largest annual comic and pop culture conventions, initially indicated Lambert would return on Sunday for photo ops and appearances. However, organizers later confirmed he would not attend that day, stating he was still not feeling well and needed additional rest, and that he sent his regrets to fans.
Lambert, who is French-American, rose to fame with roles including Tarzan in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984) and Lord Raiden in the 1995 Mortal Kombat film. He remains a popular guest at fan conventions. His representatives have indicated he is expected to recover in time for upcoming appearances, including Fan Expo Chicago the following weekend.
