The investigation into the death of 18-year-old Nolan Wells has taken a dramatic legal turn, with attorneys on both sides becoming increasingly involved as questions surrounding his final hours continue to draw national attention.

Wells disappeared during a July Fourth boat trip to Horn Island, Mississippi. His body was discovered two days later near the island, and the circumstances surrounding his death have remained the subject of intense public scrutiny. Authorities have not publicly established that foul play occurred, while the family has continued to seek additional answers through its own legal and investigative team.

Now, the legal landscape surrounding the case is becoming considerably more complicated.

Three of Nolan’s friends who were with him during the July Fourth trip — Warren Hudson, Jax Pitalo and Morgan Seymour — have obtained legal representation as scrutiny surrounding their involvement has intensified. Their attorneys have pushed back strongly against what they describe as false or defamatory claims circulating online and in public discussions about the case.

The defense team has also taken an unusual step by traveling to Horn Island to better understand the location where Nolan disappeared. Attorneys said the visit was intended to familiarize themselves with the terrain and circumstances surrounding the case rather than to independently collect evidence.

The move comes as pressure continues to build from both directions.
