SHE DID IT! Zoey’s Brain Surgery Went Well
There’s an encouraging update on 9-year-old Zoey Jones, who underwent brain surgery at Children’s of Alabama.
Zoey lives with Sickle Cell Disease, an inherited blood disorder, and Moyamoya Disease, a rare condition that can narrow the arteries supplying blood to the brain.
According to her mother, Erin, Zoey previously suffered a stroke two years ago.
Doctors performed surgery to improve blood circulation in Zoey’s brain.
After five hours of surgery, her family received the news they had been praying for:
Zoey did GREAT!
Her surgeon told the family that the procedure went well and that he was able to implant an artery in the affected area to help improve blood flow.
Zoey will remain in the PICU for observation while her medical team closely monitors her recovery.
Her mother shared how grateful the family is and asked everyone to continue keeping Zoey in their prayers.
Throughout her medical journey, Zoey has continued to show incredible courage and resilience.
When her mom expresses worry, Zoey reportedly tells her:
“Mom, don’t worry — I’ve got this.”
Now begins the road to recovery.
