Please Keep 8-Year-Old Melody in Your Prayers
This is what brain cancer has put 8-year-old Melody through.
One photo shows the sweet little girl from Harlingen, Texas, smiling in a flowered dress.
The other shows her in a PICU bed at Driscoll Children’s Hospital, receiving intensive medical care as doctors work through another serious complication.
Melody’s mom, Crista, first reached out in May.
Her daughter’s journey began with headaches and blurry vision. At first, the family thought she might simply need glasses.
But when an eye doctor found that wasn’t the problem, Crista knew something more was wrong.
Doctors eventually discovered a tumor near Melody’s pituitary gland, affecting an area deep within her brain.
She was airlifted to Driscoll Children’s Hospital, where surgeons removed as much of the tumor as they safely could.
According to her mother, some of the tumor had extended into areas that could not safely be reached.
Since then, Melody has faced additional medical complications and needed a permanent VP shunt to help drain fluid from her brain.

Now, months after her family first asked for prayers, Melody is back in the PICU.
Her mom says doctors are treating brain swelling associated with dangerously high sodium levels and are carefully working to bring those levels down while monitoring her closely.
Through all of this, Crista describes Melody as an incredibly kind little girl who cares deeply about others—even something as small as an ant.
That’s the little girl behind the hospital photo.
Please keep Melody and her family in your prayers today.
Pray for her swelling to improve safely.
Pray for wisdom for her doctors and nurses.
Pray for strength for Crista.
And pray that Melody gets the chance to return to the childhood she deserves.
