A South Texas family thought they were preparing for their 10-year-old son, Uriah, to enjoy his very first baseball season.
Instead, a series of headaches led to unexpected medical tests that revealed a mass on his brain.
Soon after, doctors diagnosed Uriah with Stage IV Large B-Cell Lymphoma. Additional testing also found a tumor on his left kidney, along with lesions on his right kidney and liver.
According to his family, everything moved quickly. Uriah underwent further treatment almost immediately, including the placement of a port and the start of chemotherapy.
The months that followed were filled with difficult challenges. His treatment became so demanding that he temporarily needed a walker and wheelchair for mobility. During his recovery, he also developed pneumonia and spent several weeks in the hospital before he was able to return home.
Today, Uriah is back with his family and continuing his recovery.
Recent scans brought encouraging news, showing that the tumor on his kidney has become much smaller. However, doctors say it remains active, and his left kidney is now functioning at only a small percentage of normal.
His family says surgeons are expected to remove the remaining tumor and affected kidney next month. The biopsy results will help determine the next stage of his treatment.
Throughout this journey, Uriah’s faith has continued to inspire those around him. His family says that even during the hardest moments, he reminds them to keep trusting God and to focus on hope, faith, and the time they share together.
They remain hopeful for a successful surgery, encouraging biopsy results, and continued healing in the weeks ahead.
