A newly obtained police affidavit has revealed a chilling detail from inside the Mandan home. Video recovered from the children’s father’s phone allegedly shows Kailey Erhart holding one of the children while also carrying a pistol, shortly before the deadly attack.

According to the affidavit, the father told investigators that he managed to wrestle the gun away from Erhart, disassembled it, and scattered the pieces throughout the house before he and the children’s grandmother were forced outside.

But what happened after they were forced out of the home would leave the family devastated. Two children died, while their 1-year-old brother survived after emergency surgery.

The newly revealed video and the sequence surrounding the weapon are now raising even more questions about the final moments before police arrived.

A disturbing piece of evidence is shedding new light on the moments leading up to the tragedy in Mandan. Investigators reportedly recovered video from the children’s father’s phone showing Erhart holding a child while a pistol was visible at her side.

The affidavit says Erhart allegedly told the father, “Say goodbye to your kids,” while holding the firearm. The father then reportedly managed to take the gun apart and scatter its pieces before being locked out of the home.

Police later found Erhart inside the residence covered in blood and holding a kitchen knife. The three children were discovered with severe injuries, with two later dying and the youngest surviving.
