Congenital Limb Differences: Understanding Amelia and Supporting Every Child’s Journey

Congenital limb differences can occur when certain parts of a baby’s limbs do not fully develop before birth. One example is amelia, a rare condition in which one or more limbs are absent because they did not form during pregnancy.
Every child has a unique journey and different needs. With loving family support, appropriate therapy, and proper medical care, children with limb differences can learn new ways to move, adapt, and grow toward greater independence.
Let us continue to promote compassion, understanding, and acceptance, while treating every child with dignity and respect—without stigma or judgment.
