**A Community Mourns the Loss of 16-Year-Old Maddie Bishop. **
The Haleyville community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of **Maddie Bishop**, who passed away peacefully at home on **July 14** after a courageous five-year battle with **stage four Ewing Sarcoma**. She was just **10 years old** when she was diagnosed in 2021.
Throughout her journey, Maddie faced **33 weeks of chemotherapy, 10 rounds of radiation, and multiple surgeries** on her femur. Although cancer took away her chance to continue playing the basketball and volleyball she loved, it never took away her strength, kindness, or faith.
Her mother, Helena, shared that Maddie once encouraged other young cancer patients by saying her faith never wavered and that her battle with cancer had only made her stronger.
Maddie will be remembered for her compassionate heart, her love for Disney World, and the joy she found with her two beloved dogs, Tucker and Hazel.
