The Blanket at 3 A.M.

The Blanket at 3 A.M.

At three in the morning, Lindsay quietly walked into the nursery.
The house was silent, except for the soft sound of a baby breathing.
She stood beside the crib, holding a warm, thick blanket in her hands.
For a moment, she simply watched her little daughter sleep.
Lindsay had not slept properly for weeks.
Every night, she worried that she was not doing enough to protect her child.
She gently tucked the blanket around the baby and whispered, “Mommy is here.”
The baby stirred and slowly opened her eyes.
Lindsay smiled through the tears gathering in her eyes.
She remembered the first time she had held her daughter in the hospital.
She had been terrified, but she had also felt a love she could never explain.
Since then, every sleepless night had seemed worth it.
Lindsay kissed the baby’s forehead and held her tiny hand.
“I may not always know what I am doing,” she whispered, “but I will always love you.”
The baby gave a small smile before closing her eyes again.
Lindsay sat beside the crib until the first light of morning appeared.
For the first time in many nights, she felt peaceful.
She realized that sometimes love was not loud or dramatic.
Sometimes, love was simply a tired mother staying awake beside her sleeping child.
And that quiet moment became a memory Lindsay would treasure forever.
