Tim Curry originated the role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the 1973 London stage musical before reprising it for the 1975 film adaptation. He nearly turned down playing Pennywise in IT (1990) because he hated the extensive makeup process, which took hours to apply. The frantic ending of Clue (1985) required Curry to sprint through the mansion sets, leaving him completely exhausted by the final take. He earned three Tony Award nominations during his career for his performances in Amadeus, My Favorite Year, and Spamalot. Curry passed away peacefully at his Los Angeles home on August 25, 2026, at age 80 after navigating years of health complications from a 2012 stroke
