This exquisite 𝘔𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘺 mask belonged to Yuya, the father of Queen Tiye, who was the wife of King Amenhotep III. Discovered together with the mask of his wife Thuya, both were richly crafted from cartonnage covered with gold leaf, symbolizing divine protection and eternal life .

Yuya was a prominent and influential court official of Egypt’s 18th Dynasty, best known as the father of Queen Tiye, the Great Royal Wife of Pharaoh Amenhotep III.

Serving under both Thutmose IV and Amenhotep III, Yuya held several prestigious titles, including “Master of the Horse” and “Overseer of the Cattle of Min,” roles that placed him at the heart of royal administration and religious affairs.

His exceptionally well-preserved tomb (KV46), discovered in 1905, yielded some of the finest funerary objects ever found in the Valley of the Kings, offering remarkable insight into elite burials before the reign of Tutankhamun. Yuya’s distinct and finely crafted mummy, along with the luxurious goods buried with him, reflects his high status and enduring legacy in the royal court.
