CHRISTA PIKE REFUSES HER FINAL MEAL

In the hours before Tennessee’s scheduled execution, Christa Pike reportedly declined her final meal.

The moment was part of the preparations for an execution that was ultimately never completed as planned.

Pike was scheduled to be executed by lethal injection for the 1995 murder of 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer.

Instead, after the lethal injection drugs were administered, Pike remained alive and was later transported to a hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Her failed execution has since raised questions about Tennessee’s execution procedures, medical safeguards and the events inside the execution chamber.

Her attorneys continue to pursue legal action while an investigation examines what happened during the procedure.

What was expected to be Pike’s final meal instead became part of a much larger and unexpected chapter in her decades-long death-penalty case.
