My Daughter-in-Law Threw My Birthday Cake in the Trash—Then Her Husband Opened My Letter
PART 1 — THE CAKE SHE DIDN’T WANT
My daughter-in-law threw my homemade birthday cake into the trash.
Right in front of me.
I had spent the entire morning baking it for my son’s fortieth birthday.
It was his favorite chocolate cake, the same recipe I’d made since he was a little boy.
But when I arrived at their beautiful house, his wife looked disgusted.
“We ordered a professional cake, Margaret. We don’t need that cheap homemade thing.”
Before I could speak, she took the box and dropped it into the kitchen trash.
I stood there, speechless.
“Please,” I whispered. “I worked so hard on it.”
She shrugged.
“Well, next time call before bringing food.”
I quietly left a small envelope on the counter.
Inside was a birthday letter for my son.
That evening, after the guests left, he finally noticed it.
He opened the envelope.
His expression changed.
“Jessica?” he called.
His wife appeared.
“What?”
He held up the letter.
“Did you know Mom sold her old house three years ago?”
Jessica frowned.
“So?”
My son looked at her.
“Then why does this letter say she used the money to pay off our business debt?”
