They Left an Old Woman Alone at the Airport—Then the Airline Owner Came to Find Her
PART 1 — ABANDONED AT THE AIRPORT
My family abandoned me at the airport because they didn’t want me ruining their luxury vacation.
I was seventy-eight years old.
My son had promised to take me to California so I could see the ocean one last time.
But when we arrived at the airport, his wife pulled him aside.
A few minutes later, he returned.
“Mom, there’s been a problem with your ticket.”
I frowned.
“What kind of problem?”
“We couldn’t get you a seat. You’ll have to go home.”
Then they hurried toward security with their children.
I sat alone with my suitcase, trying not to cry.
An airline employee approached.
“Ma’am, are you okay?”
I nodded.
“I’m just waiting.”
But I had nowhere to go.
An hour later, a distinguished businessman walked through the terminal with several executives.
He noticed me sitting by myself.
He stopped.
“Mrs. Williams?”
I looked up.
“Yes?”
He removed his glasses.
“My name is Jonathan Reed.”
I stared at him.
He knelt beside my chair.
“Thirty-five years ago, you took a little orphan boy into your home.”
My eyes filled with tears.
“Johnny?”
He smiled.
“I never forgot you.”
