HE’S BACK! SISU: ROAD TO REVENGE IS A BLOOD-SOAKED, CARTOONISH ACTION MASTERPIECE!
If you thought Aatami Korpi was done with his brand of brutal, silent, and utterly insane Finnish revenge, you were wrong. SISU: ROAD TO REVENGE takes the already bonkers action of the first film and cranks the dial up past eleven, delivering one of the most outrageously entertaining action sequels in years!
The film wastes absolutely no time. Our nearly-immortal prospector, Aatami (Jorma Tommila), is now on a mission far more personal than just gold: he’s exacting vengeance against a vicious Red Army butcher, Igor Draganov (Stephen Lang), who shattered his last remnants of peace. To do this, Aatami has disassembled his family’s old home, loading the wooden beams onto a truck—only to turn that truck into a rolling death machine on the Finnish frontier!
Director Jalmari Helander channels the spirit of Mad Max: Fury Road meets a hyper-violent, live-action cartoon. This movie is a relentless, 90-minute barrage of inventive, practical, and gloriously over-the-top stunt work. Forget physics! Aatami survives plane crashes, tank battles, and impossible falls with the same grim determination that defines the untranslatable word “Sisu.” Every set piece is designed to make the audience cheer, gasp, and maybe wince a little (okay, a lot).
What makes this movie so brilliant is its simple, unstoppable momentum. There is almost no dialogue, letting the action and Jorma Tommila’s incredibly expressive, dirt-caked face do all the talking. It’s dark, surprisingly funny, and ultimately a supremely satisfying cathartic bloodbath. You’ll find yourself rooting for the silent, unstoppable legend every single step of the way. If you love a pure, unadulterated B-movie thrill ride with a huge budget feel, drop everything and see this!
Highly recommended for anyone who likes their action loud, bloody, and completely ludicrous! 10/10!
