Moana (2026)

Moana (2026) is an exciting live-action reimagining of Disney’s beloved animated adventure, led by an impressive and culturally resonant cast. In her feature film debut, Australian-Samoan actress Catherine Lagaʻaia brings Moana to life with a spirited and heartfelt performance as the brave wayfinder who answers the ocean’s call to save her island people, celebrating her heritage and courage in a vivid new cinematic setting.

Lagaʻaia’s portrayal promises both emotional depth and physical presence as she navigates oceanic challenges and personal growth. Returning to the world of Motunui, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson reprises his role as the charismatic demigod Maui, blending humor, swagger, and strength that fans first fell in love with in the animated films.

The ensemble also includes John Tui as Chief Tui, Moana’s steadfast father; Frankie Adams as her supportive mother Sina; and Rena Owen as the wise and beloved Gramma Tala, whose guidance shapes Moana’s destiny.

Directed by Thomas Kail — known for his dynamic storytelling on both stage and screen — and produced with involvement from Lin-Manuel Miranda, this adaptation stays true to the heart of the original while offering fresh visual spectacle and emotional nuance. The film is set to hit theaters on July 10, 2026, inviting audiences on a vibrant, heartfelt voyage across the sea
