A Hero’s Fight for Survival: Denny’s Journey and the Power of Prayer

In less than twenty-four hours, thousands of voices will rise together in prayer — lifting up a man who has spent his life lifting others.

Denny is a lineman. One of the men who climbs when the storms hit, who works through ice, darkness, and danger so families can have warmth, light, and safety again. During a brutal ice storm, while restoring power for others, Denny was nearly electrocuted in the line of duty. In a single moment, the man who brought light to entire communities found himself fighting for his own life.

What followed has been devastating.

In just eight days, Denny has undergone seven major surgeries, including the partial amputation of his left arm. And even after unimaginable pain and trauma, his fight is not over. Another critical surgery still lies ahead. Every hour is fragile. Every step forward is hard-won.

A Life Changed in an Instant

Denny’s story is one of courage and sacrifice — not because he sought recognition, but because he answered a call. As a lineman, he worked to restore power to homes left frozen and dark by the storm. He did what so many depend on, often without ever knowing his name.

And then everything changed.

The work he did to protect others nearly cost him his life. The physical injuries are severe, but the emotional weight carried by his family is just as heavy.

Kristi, Denny’s wife of 31 years, has been by his side through every terrifying moment. Still in shock, she wrote words that capture the depth of this loss and love:
“I simply cannot do this life without him.”

Their world shifted in an instant. The future they knew disappeared, replaced by hospital rooms, surgeries, waiting, and prayer. And yet, even in the midst of devastation, they are holding on — to faith, to love, and to the hope that Denny’s strength will carry him through.

Faith in the Darkest Hours

Denny’s journey is marked by pain, endurance, and resilience. Each surgery is another test. Each day is another fight. But through it all, his family believes that prayer matters — that collective faith has power, especially when the road ahead feels uncertain.

This Saturday, the community will come together not only for Denny, but for every lineman who risks everything to keep the rest of us safe. These men work in the harshest conditions, often unseen, often unthanked. Denny’s story reminds us of the real cost behind the comfort we so often take for granted.

A Call to Prayer

Denny’s family is asking for bold, powerful prayers — prayers for healing, strength, mercy, and peace. They are asking people everywhere to pause, even for a moment, and lift Denny up to God.

A prayer vigil will be held:

Saturday, February 7, 2026
12:00 PM
The Cross
890 O.E. Barrett Drive, Iuka, Mississippi

This gathering is a way for the community to say: You are not alone. And even if you cannot be there physically, you can still be part of this moment — by praying, sharing Denny’s story, and surrounding his family with love and support.

To Denny and Kristi

To Denny: you are not fighting alone. Thousands of people are standing with you, praying for your healing, and believing in your strength. Your courage reflects the life you’ve lived — one of service, sacrifice, and quiet heroism.

To Kristi: you are not alone either. Your strength, your love, and your devotion are seen. A community is holding you up in prayer, believing for Denny’s recovery and for peace in the days ahead.

We may not know what tomorrow holds. But we know this — love, faith, and prayer can carry us through even the darkest moments.

As the prayers rise this weekend, let us remember the men like Denny — and the families who stand beside them — who sacrifice so much so others can feel safe. Let us pray for protection, healing, and grace. Let us be grateful, not only in words, but in action and support.

Denny’s journey is not over. But with faith, community, and the power of prayer, hope remains alive.

Please share Denny’s story.
Lift his name in prayer.
And help surround this family with the strength they so desperately need.
