Creator of the Cyberpunk Universe Invites Keanu Reeves Back: “I Have a Way to Bring You Back—Call Me”
CD Projekt Red is currently developing the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, and the story of Johnny Silverhand may not be over just yet.
After Keanu Reeves expressed interest in reprising his role as the legendary rocker, Mike Pondsmith—the creator of the Cyberpunk universe—hinted that he “has a way to make it happen,” raising the possibility of Johnny Silverhand’s return in the upcoming sequel.

Speaking at a discussion hosted by CD Projekt Red, Pondsmith said he was deeply impressed by the stars who have appeared in the Cyberpunk universe, from Keanu Reeves to Idris Elba. “Not long ago, I saw Keanu say he wanted to come back. I have a way to do that—Keanu, give me a call,” Pondsmith said cryptically.
Although Johnny Silverhand—portrayed by Reeves—died long before the events of Cyberpunk 2077, Pondsmith suggested there could still be alternative ways for the character to exist. Fans speculate that Silverhand might survive in digital form beyond the Blackwall. Pondsmith even joked: “Who’s next? Scarlett Johansson? Scarlett, I’ve got a few roles for you.”

“Jokes aside, there are two things that really impressed me,” he added. “First, they truly fit their roles. Second, they are actors who genuinely want to immerse themselves in their characters.” This, he explained, is why he remains open to bringing Reeves back in Cyberpunk 2, which is currently in development.
If it becomes reality, fans may once again meet the rebellious rocker who embodies the very soul of the Cyberpunk world.
