Angelina Jolie is reportedly preparing to leave Hollywood behind and begin a new chapter of her life abroad, as she puts her $25 million Los Angeles mansion on the market.

According to Page Six, starting this year Jolie plans to split her time between New York—where she runs her fashion atelier, Atelier Jolie—and locations in Europe as well as Cambodia. The 50-year-old actress is said to be seeking greater privacy in Europe, while also spending more time in Cambodia, a country she considers her second home and where she holds citizenship.

Actor and producer Jae Benjamin, who has known Jolie since 2005, said she has been overwhelmed by years of turmoil and sees relocation as the only way to find peace. “She needs space to decompress and focus on what truly speaks to her heart, soul, and passions,” he shared, describing Jolie as “an extraordinary, talented, and deeply compassionate woman.”

Much of the upheaval in Jolie’s life has stemmed from her highly publicized and bitter split from her former husband, Brad Pitt. After an eight-year legal battle, the former couple reached a settlement on December 30, 2024. Last summer, Jolie openly expressed her desire to leave Los Angeles, saying she planned to stay only until all six of their children turned 18. Her youngest twins, Knox and Vivienne, reach adulthood this July, freeing Jolie from custody-related restrictions tied to Pitt.

The actress shares six children with Pitt: Maddox (24), adopted from Cambodia; Pax Thien (22), born in Vietnam; Zahara (20), from Ethiopia; biological daughter Shiloh (19); and twins Knox and Vivienne. Several of the children have reportedly dropped “Pitt” from their surnames, and Shiloh formally petitioned to remove her father’s last name on her 18th birthday in 2024.

Sources say Jolie is selling the Los Angeles home where she has lived with her children since 2017. She previously explained that she purchased the property so the children could remain close to their father, whose home was just a five-minute drive away. Jolie and Pitt separated in 2016 following an incident on a private flight from France to the US, after which Jolie accused Pitt of abuse while intoxicated. The FBI investigated but ultimately closed the case without charges.

Los Angeles also holds painful memories for Jolie beyond her divorce. She spent a decade there caring for her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who battled ovarian and breast cancer before passing away in 2007 at age 56.

Long considering herself a global citizen, Jolie’s bond with Cambodia dates back to filming Lara Croft: Tomb Raider there in 2001. Since then, she has established charitable foundations, adopted a child, and devoted herself to humanitarian work. She previously served as a special envoy for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, visiting conflict zones in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Earlier this year, she traveled to the Rafah region in Egypt and entered Gaza with a US delegation to meet aid workers and injured Palestinians, according to AP.

There have also been long-standing rumors that Jolie hopes to relocate to London. Reports suggest she looked into buying property there in September 2025 while filming Anxious People. Some sources say she wants to be closer to her close friend Salma Hayek and Hayek’s husband, French billionaire François-Henri Pinault, who divide their time between Paris, London, and the US.

Jeff Krauss, president of IE Group, which organizes events for celebrities, noted that Jolie appears ready to step away from full-time life in Los Angeles now that her children are grown. He added that many high-profile figures, especially parents, are choosing to live abroad for better education, increased privacy, and distance from paparazzi.

Meanwhile, Pitt remains firmly rooted in Hollywood. His production company, Plan B Entertainment, is behind major projects such as Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Nickel Boys, and the series Adolescence and 3 Body Problem. He also continues to thrive as an actor, including starring in the 2025 film F1. While Jolie is currently single, Pitt has been dating jewelry designer Ines de Ramon since 2022, and the couple are reportedly living together at his new Los Angeles estate.
