LOS ANGELES — Reality TV star and entrepreneur Kristin Cavallari is opening up about an unsettling experience at a Hollywood party she says “felt like a drug den.”
Speaking candidly during a recent podcast appearance, Cavallari described attending a high-profile bash early in her career where the atmosphere struck her as “sketchy” and uncomfortable.
“It just felt off,” she said. “The energy in the room was dark. It didn’t feel glamorous — it felt like something else entirely.”
Kristin Cavallari said on Tuesday’s episode of her podcast that she was invited to a Valentine’s Day party mid-flight to Los Angeles.
‘Not What I Expected’
Cavallari did not name the host or location of the event but suggested the gathering was attended by recognizable industry figures. She described dim lighting, people disappearing into back rooms and an overall environment that made her uneasy.
“At that point in my life, I thought Hollywood parties were going to be fun and exciting,” she said. “This one just felt like a drug den.”
The former Laguna Beach and The Hills star said she left shortly after arriving, adding that the experience changed how she approached social events in the entertainment industry.
She said those attending needed an ultra-exclusive app just to RSVP.
Speaking Out About Boundaries
Cavallari has been increasingly candid in recent interviews about navigating fame, relationships and the pressures of Hollywood. She said the party experience reinforced her decision to prioritize her personal values and avoid situations that didn’t align with them.
“I’ve always trusted my gut,” she explained. “If something feels wrong, I’m out.”
Cavallari said she met up with friends before the Feb. 14 party and was surprised by the intense security.
Broader Industry Conversation
Her remarks come amid ongoing conversations about substance use and party culture in the entertainment world. While Cavallari stopped short of accusing anyone of wrongdoing, her description adds to a broader narrative about the less glamorous side of celebrity nightlife.
Representatives for Cavallari did not provide additional details about the event she referenced.
For the reality star, the takeaway was clear: not every invitation is worth accepting — even in Hollywood.
